Windows Media Encoder it’s a great program to stream audio over your LAN/Network or Internet.
I Have a police scanner / receiver. From the radio I have a 3,5mm minijack plug into my computers microphone.
Then I use Windows media encoder to encode/compress the audio signal and make a audio-stream.
On the client side you can use Windows Media Player to play the audio stream.
If you want to stream this out on internet , you need to activate portforwarding on your router to the IP address of you “server”-computer. You can choose by our own wich port number you want to use.
This way I can sit in my office and listen to my scanner at home! All for free! Take contact if you need help with setup. Download Windows Media Encoder from www.microsoft.com under the download section.

UBC780
This is the UBC-780 XLT receiver (”policescanner”).
It was my first scanner, and since then I just loved the products from Uniden.
The great thing about this receiver is the size. It’s a “mobile” station and not the typical handheld version.
The radio fits perfect in the car or on my desktop. Because of the size, it’s very easy to operate the radio. Big knops and a great display with backlight.
This radio operates on 12volts (13.8v) DC and the current drain is about 700mA.
If you are an geek like me, you like to hook this thing up to your computer and that it’s very easy. Just get yourself a serial cable (RS232) and connect to your computer. When you buy this radio you get the original software, but you can also find 3. party software with more functions.
When you connect the radio to you computer it is very easy to program in new channels, make banks etc. Another benefit are that you can control the radio. Change frequency, mode and channels.
Some facts:
- HF/VHF/UHF
- 25-512 / 806-956 / 1240-1300 mhz
- 5/7,5/10/12,5/25/50/100 khz steps
- Antenna connector: BNC
- 500 channels
- 30 channels/sec (scan-speed)
- Mode: AM/FM/NFM/WFM
I Recommend this product !
